Always Active in Atlantic City
Come for Mother’s Day and return throughout the summer
As the weather warms up, and you’ve gotten the urge to shake off winter or take a break from yard work, it’s the perfect time for a getaway to Atlantic City. The city that’s “Always Turned On” has plenty of activities to put some spring into your step.
Atlantic City offers several ways to celebrate Mother’s Day, starting with a visit to one of its many elegant day spas, or a shopping trip to one of several charming shopping districts. For a celebratory dinner, Atlantic City has a bountiful selection of dining establishments—you’re sure to find the cuisine, atmosphere and price range you’re looking for, including al fresco dining on the Boardwalk and restaurants with a view of the water. You can round out Mom’s day with classic R&B and soul by Ronald Isley & The Isley Brothers, Teena Marie and The Whispers, who are all on tap for a special Mother’s Day Music Festival at Boardwalk Hall.
On July 4, one of music’s most eccentric performers will take the stage when Lady Gaga performs as part of The Monster Ball Tour, and on Aug. 7, The Black Eyed Peas come to Boardwalk Hall. These are just a few examples of the top names in entertainment that are always on stage at Boardwalk Hall—check www.boardwalkhall.com for regular updates of who’s coming soon.

Looking beyond Mother’s Day, fun celebrations in Atlantic City are a sure bet for Memorial Day and Independence Day, too, to usher in the summer. In between, of course, there’s plenty to enjoy, so plan ahead for special events like the ShopRite LPGA Classic, June 14 to 20 at nearby Seaview Resort, or late-summer fun at the Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival from July 30 to Aug. 1.
No matter when you visit, Atlantic City will entertain you, with everything from A-list stars in its showrooms and loads of laughs in its comedy clubs, to revue shows, lounge acts and pulsating nightclubs. To find out what’s happening this summer, check the calendar of events at www.atlanticcitynj.com for listings throughout the area.
Add in summer beach bars with a lively mix of entertainment—plus warm-weather fun on Atlantic City’s four miles of beach and Boardwalk, boating, fishing, sightseeing cruises, an intimate aquarium, a historic lighthouse, a giant elephant you can walk to (Lucy the Elephant, which was built in the 1880s, is located in Margate City just down the coast), as well as other intriguing attractions—and there are more than enough reasons to make Atlantic City your favorite spring and summer getaway year after year. You can explore all of your options at www.atlanticcitynj.com.
And we’ve only scratched the surface of all you can see and do. There are, of course, Atlantic City’s 11 lively, round-the-clock casinos, as well as first-class resorts with a variety of special rates and packages. There is always something going on in the city that is always turned on.
