Always Turned On

Discover non-stop entertainment, dining, shopping and more in Atlantic City

Looking for a great spring getaway that offers plenty to do? It sounds like you’re looking for Atlantic City, NJ.

If your mental image of Atlantic City is just a summer beach resort with casinos, it’s time to take a new look at one of America’s top resort destinations. This is the town that is “Always Turned On,” and there’s bound to be something here to turn you on.

Yes, Atlantic City still has the world’s first Boardwalk, with its miles of eateries, shops and attractions, as well as eight of the city’s 11 casinos. But there’s so much more.

If shopping is your bag, Atlantic City offers several distinct shopping districts, from brand name discount outlets, to an eclectic mix of shops featuring unique atmospheres, to luxury brands on an oceanfront pier.

You’ll never have trouble finding your favorite food in Atlantic City, with restaurants offering Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican cuisine and more. From familiar favorites to unique dining experiences, the city is home to old-fashioned supper clubs, famous-name themed restaurants and sophisticated gourmet rooms. And, of course, no vacation is complete without sampling the famous “Boardwalk food” of pizza, pretzels and hot dogs.

Are you in the mood to be entertained? Atlantic City’s showrooms, lounges, nightclubs and Boardwalk Hall offer everything from celebrity A-list appearances at chic nightclubs to sporting events, revue shows and headline entertainment. And don’t forget to check out the 2010 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship at Boardwalk Hall March 12-14—it’s a precursor to March Madness and promises to provide some fast action on the court.

Special events are plentiful all year long in Atlantic City, and there are plenty of events and public shows at the Atlantic City Convention Center to choose from this spring, including the Atlantic City Beer Festival, Celebration of the Suds (March 20-21), and the Atlantic City Antique and Collectors Show (March 27-28). And April will bring Strictly Corvette (April 24-25) to the convention center.

The Atlantic City area also offers a wealth of attractions, some of the best golf on the East Coast (voted a top 10 golf destination by ForbesTraveler.com), antiques, arts and culture, and more, with hotel packages and specials to fit every budget.
