Our Employees Make the Difference…
On Dec. 20, 2009, I retired as President and CEO of AAA Auto Club South (ACS). That date marked the conclusion of my 33 years of service to ACS, the last eight as CEO.
ACS continues to grow in every facet of our business, and we are now more than 4.1 million members strong. I sincerely appreciate your trust and confidence in ACS, and I can promise you that our service will continue to improve as our employees work very hard to respond to your changing needs.
Every day of my tenure as CEO I received letters, calls and emails from AAA members like you, praising the outstanding efforts of our employees. And I know why: Our employees are dedicated to providing you with outstanding service. We call this “top box” service—meaning that you are totally satisfied; that is what each of our 3,000 ACS employees at 90 locations strive for every time they serve you.
As I reflect back over the last 33 years—and particularly my eight years as CEO—I take the greatest pride in the enhancements we have made to the delivery of automotive services, including our fleet of 200 service vehicles and 300 dedicated service technicians; the expansion of our call centers and AAA.com, enabling you to do business with us in ways that may be more convenient when you aren’t able to visit one of our many offices; and the traffic safety legislation that we have worked so hard to pass and which will save thousands of lives for many years to come.
What I feel best about, though, is the outstanding ACS team that I am leaving behind. Under the leadership of our new President and CEO, John Tomlin, our team has never been stronger, and they all look forward to serving you.
My best wishes to every member and customer of ACS. Now…I am going trout fishing!

...And Serving You Is
Their Top Priority
Greetings to all AAA Auto Club South members! All of us at ACS wish a fond farewell to Tom O’Brien, whose strong leadership as President has guided your club through extremely challenging times.
Through it all, Tom has led this organization by two fundamental premises. The first premise is that each one of us who works at AAA is here to serve you, our members. The second is to be good stewards of our members’ dues. As a result, ACS is strong financially and able to fulfill its commitment to make your life easier, more enjoyable and safer. Each day, we appreciate the trust you put in us by renewing your membership.
I look forward to building upon the foundation established and the success achieved by the three past presidents of AAA Auto Club South: Our founder and first Chairman Marvin Holloway; our current Chairman Robert Sharp; and our just-retired CEO Tom O’Brien. Keeping our members’ interests in the forefront—whether through service, product development, sales or safety—remains our top priority, and will enable us to enjoy another 100 years of success. I wish each of you a Happy New Year and a safe
and prosperous 2010!

President and CEO, AAA Auto Club South
